Instructions & Safety for Candlea Sand Candles
Candlea Sand Candles are simple to use, versatile, and safer than traditional candles when used correctly. Follow these instructions to create and enjoy your Candlea Sand Candle safely and effectively.
How to Make Your Candlea Sand Candle
1. Choose and Prepare Your Container
- Use a fireproof container for safety, or ensure that any alternative container:
- Is large enough to keep the melt pool away from the edges.
- Does not overheat during use.
- Minimum container width: Depends on the wick type. For standard wicks, ensure at least a 4-inch width at the narrowest point. Always test the container to ensure it remains safe during use.
2. Insert the Wick
Follow these guidelines for the type of wick you’re using:
Cotton Wick:
- Insert the wick, leaving only 1/4 inch of the tip sticking out of the sand.
- Ensure at least 2 inches of sand around the wick and 1 inch of sand under it for proper burning.
Wooden Wick:
- Push the wick all the way into the sand, leaving just 1/8 inch of the tip exposed.
3. Light Your Candle
- Once the wick is properly placed, light the exposed tip. A correctly prepared wick will burn for up to 12 hours.
- Wooden wicks may take slightly longer to catch fire. Keep the flame on the wick until it lights and reaches the sand for continuous burning.
Refreshing Your Candle
Candlea Sand Candles are reusable:
- Remove the used wick.
- You can either trim and reuse the wick or replace it with a new one for a fresh start.
Adding Scent to Your Candle
Candlea Sand Candles are naturally scent-free and odorless. To add fragrance:
- Use compatible fragrance oils, placing a few drops near the wick before lighting the candle.
- Caution: Never add oils (fragrance or essential) to a burning candle, as they are highly flammable.
Safety Guidelines
While Candlea Sand Candles are designed with enhanced safety, proper use is crucial:
Container Safety:
- Maintain at least 2 inches of sand around the wick and 1 inch of sand beneath it to prevent overheating or accidental flames.
- If tipped over or burned to the wick’s end, the flame will self-extinguish.
General Fire Safety:
- Never burn candles near flammable objects or surfaces.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- Avoid placing candles in drafts or near curtains and papers.
Sand Safety:
- Candlea sand is plant-based and non-toxic, but it is not edible—do not ingest it.
- Avoid contact with eyes to prevent irritation.
